Don't Kill Dinner is book 1 in a 3 book series, 'The Rules Trilogy

I really like how different this book is. Why? Well I guess it would be bad form to go around saying, "Just because I do." Hahaha! I'll try to put my thoughts into words. When I was sitting on the couch reading at my daughter's dance school I felt like Kenna was sitting on the couch telling me her story.  Then when I was in the kitchen fixing dinner she stayed in my head. I couldn't wait to get my kids to their Karate practice just after dinner so I could sit with her some more just so I could hear more of her story. The entire time I was reading this book that is how I felt. She was right there with me everywhere I went telling me her story. I was captured up in it. Even though I felt like Kenna was telling me her story I could picture all of it my head with ease. From the practice scenes with Arthur to when she was @#&@(&@#*@&@ (okay that would be a spoiler so I'll leave that out) I could see it happening. It is a fast paced action romance that I didn't want to put it down. I'm looking forward to finding out where the next book will take me.

I really liked Kenna. She is opposite of the pity me heroine that are in the majority of the books I've read lately. She tries hard to fit into her new world. And when she didn't she just rolled with the flow when around the others and then did her own thing when she was by herself. Until she was busted by Arthur. Even after that she was on her own mission. And honestly, I have sometimes wished I could do the same to the criminal low lives that I've had the unfortunate dishonor of meeting.  It's not that I dislike the pity me heroine because, I do like them. But Kenna is a refreshing strong fun character who can't follow the rules.  Her sarcastic personality makes me smile and laugh.

Arthur seems to have what I can only describe as infinite patience. He has been in love with Kenna for a really long time. He waited until he knew Kenna was unhappy with her current life to approach her. He didn't profess his love to her right away. Instead he explains what he can do to give her a new life. Not only did he wait for her he also gave her time to think about his offer. She wasn't in some life threatening situation or just turned because he wanted her like I so often read about. He didn't just take her make her a vamp and have a HEA either. They worked together to train body and mind so Kenna was prepared to join their coven.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention one of the things I really liked!!! Jennifer brings to life a new way for vampires to be out in daylight. I let out a, "What NO WAY!" when I read about it. Yes I have a bad habit of talking to my kindle as I read. And I found it to be a really spectacular idea! You'll just have to read about it.

Naughty Bit time!

Naughty Bit:

When I started squirming, his hands went back to my wrists and he started exploring my body with his tongue. I couldn’t stand it anymore, a small moan escaped my mouth when his teeth nicked my hard nipples though my top and I lost it. I flipped him back over and crushed my lips into his. The taste of his mouth was perfect, like cookie dough and chocolate syrup. When I forced my tongue into his mouth our tongues began to dance as one. Suddenly he pushed me back just enough for my lips to relinquish their hold on him and he stared into my eyes. I lost myself in his blue eyes and it was as if time stopped. The next thing I remember was Arthur holding me as he ran up the stairs. By the time I exhaled, we are standing in his room and his hands were exploring the skin on my stomach. The air smelled like passion and neither of us could stand it anymore. His hands continued up my stomach, his fingers tracing every rib until my shirt was on the ground. He pressed his lips into mine while he picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. When he placed me on his soft bed, I was confident that I could live there forever and never get up again. As his mouth explored my body I was left with trails of heat where his lips and tongue had tasted me. I wrapped my fingers through his dark brown hair and couldn’t help but pull a little. This egged him on and it was only a matter of moments before either of us took the next step. I lifted my hips to feel his hardness between my legs and that was the last straw. He took off my pants in one motion and I ripped his shorts off his body. He snickered and let his hand explore my body. My breath was ragged and right before I started to beg he thrust himself inside of me and I was transported to a new world.

Yum! You know you want to read more.  *wink*

Will Arthur be able to stop her feeding spree before the coven comes after her or is Kenna beyond saving?

Arthur has been watching Kenna for years, wanting her to try her own hand in life before he gave her the ultimate proposal. Now that she has accepted, will his love be enough to save her?

Author Bio:

One day while slaving away at her monotonous day job, Jennifer Martinez found her true calling. Like a firefly in the night, the pages called to her. Once she caught the bug there was no stopping it. Her fingers flew furiously across the keyboard winding tales of love, mystery and anger. She snapped out of her reverie to find herself still behind the desk but at least she knew who she was… Author Jennifer Martinez.
I like to think of myself as a beautiful conundrum. When I am not writing, I can be found surrounded by my amazing family and 4 dogs or volunteering at a local animal rescue. I love who I am and don’t mind at all when I get strange looks from people. I am a tattoo covered, child and animal lover who looks forward to destroying peoples preconceived notions of what “someone like me” would be interested in. You only live life once… you may as well make it interesting.
I love to get lost in a good book and hope that everyone will get lost in mine.
