Review: Twist Me by Anna Zaires

 Twist Me

by Anna Zaires

New Adult Dark Erotic Romance

Kidnapped. Taken to a private island.

I never thought this could happen to me. I never imagined one chance meeting on the eve of my eighteenth birthday could change my life so completely.

Now I belong to him. To Julian. To a man who is as ruthless as he is beautiful—a man whose touch makes me burn. A man whose tenderness I find more devastating than his cruelty.

My captor is an enigma. I don’t know who he is or why he took me. There is a darkness inside him—a darkness that scares me even as it draws me in.

My name is Nora Leston, and this is my story.

I gotta say I really enjoyed this book. For those that want to dip their toes into Dark Romance I'd say this is book is a great place to start. It's not too dark so strictly dark romance fans might find it a little light, but I think she stays in the middle of the grey that makes up the Dark Romance spectrum. Regardless of which end of the spectrum you are on regarding Dark Romances the story and characters are stellar!

We start out meeting Nora, a bright young girl looking forward to what ever the future holds. She gets bored and goes out with a friend in celebration of her soon to be 18th birthday, only to run into a guy at a night club that she finds both attractive and frighting. To me the very start of the book was slow right up until she mets Julian in that club. However, I think the book needs that set up so we get to know Nora a little bit before she is kidnapped. It had a very good purpose, but just wasn't interesting until Julian comes into play. We don't have to wait too long to meet him.

Once Nora gets kidnapped the book takes off. Right off the bat I hated Julian, was intrigued by him, and loved having a character to hate. I was routing for Nora even when Nora started to waiver. The whole time Nora used her head to try get her freedom back.  I found her to be pretty smart even though she was mostly unsuccessful in everything she tried.

With all kidnappings you always want to know WHY?  Slowly parts of the answer get revealed as  bits of who he is and his past get revealed. Those bits made my feelings towards him change slightly. Than, his temperament would change and I'd dislike him all over again.  Okay, so he needs a women to kick  his arse for a change, but he wasn't totally a horrible guy. We all love the bad guy that we wish would/could change a few things because the love he has for his women is that strong. So far I don't think Julian is there, but there story doesn't end with book one. Both characters grow/change so with that and with the way the story made my feelings go back and forth I found the book really engaging and enjoying.

If you like Dark Romances I think you'll be pleased with the kidnapping, mind games, coerced consent, BDSM (its on the lighter end, at least to me), Stockholm Syndrome, sexual slavery, romance, action, suspense, and even some funny moments.I know I can't wait to read the next book!

Review: Perilous Promises by Christi Williams

Perilous Promises

Contemporary Romance

I really liked Perilous Promises. I lost my grandmother to breast cancer because she refused treatment and would rather die then to feel the way Perris felt. That alone pulled me closer to Perris. After being married to the same man for more then 12 years and finding out I'm at high risk for getting it too made me realize I  am also more frightened over how my husband would react after surgery then battling the cancer itself. Breast cancer is a growing issue in the world today and while treatment has given us women a better chance at survival it leaves more then just scars on the skin. Parts of this book made me want to cry and others I felt Perris needed a good spanking to set her straight. Overall, I really enjoyed getting to know Perris and Noah along with all her friends. I think we need more romance books that deal with breast cancer to help bring a little understanding, hope, compassion, and romance to all women.

After a fight with breast cancer Perris made her life the way she wanted it. No one to lean on, standing strong on her own, with her dream job. Things quickly go wrong for her when a protester pushes too far and she runs into her ex-husband for the first time in 5 years.

Noah made the worst mistake a man could make with the women he loves when she was fighting cancer. With no time to adjust the love of his life just up and left him leaving him with little understanding of why. They should have been able to talk about what happened but she ran.

Synopsis:  Rating: Sensual Romance - Controversial
She can survive anything except the men who love her. Perris Dalton doesn’t need a man. She left southwest Wyoming broken, so transformed by fighting cancer even her big hunk of a lawman couldn’t make love to her. Now she’s back.

Her new job is to mitigate conflicts with raptors at a power plant’s coal mine. There’s no reason for her path to cross her ex-husband’s. But when an environmental demonstration inexplicably centers in on her, Sheriff Noah Dalton steps in, confident he can win back the woman who once walked out on him.
As the demonstration spirals into personal attacks, Noah, Perris’s father the sheep rancher, and her brother the college student, hatch a secret plot to protect her.

In an epic contest of wills with a lone woman survivor used to solving her own problems, and three Western heroes just as determined to save her, all hell starts to break loose.

About Christi Williams

My fiction is contemporary, so the settings and the characters are completely modern and struggle with today’s issues. But the men and women in my writing leave a big footprint, because their personalities and their solutions to problems hark back to the iconic days which really don’t exist anymore. My characters truly live by the Code of the West.

Christi Williams writes contemporary sensual romance set in Wyoming. My strong heroines love cowboys and lawmen! I love hearing from readers, so please contact me.
