Battered Not Broken is great! In case anyone doesn't know
the abbreviations I'll type them out.
Ryan is a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter who was
discharged from the Marines after taking damage from an Improvised Explosive
Device (IED) in Afghanistan. He suffers from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) that
is known for causing sudden and extreme migraines.
Ally is also a MMA fighter that lives with her mother and
works in her aunts nail salon. Her brother is the #2 in a local gang and her
dad is in prison. She does really well in trying to understand what Ryan is
going through and tries to support his wishes.
I really like how the story plays out and I love these
characters, especially Ally. The things you find out about these two and how
you find out about them had me reading until the morning to see what’s next. There
are some really spicy sex scenes that don't overpower the rest of the story. The
book has several oral and vaginal M/F vanilla hot love making scenes. Even if you know nothing about MMA, Ranae does
a wonderful job explaining what is going on. She did a great job telling this
story!!! And I won’t be forgetting the counter top anytime soon. You simply
have to read that for yourself because I don’t want to spoil it.
Naughty Bit
Ally’s heart skipped a beat when he tore it open and pulled
a condom from inside, meeting her eyes briefly before diverting his attention
to his hardened dick.
Every fiber of her being seemed to melt as he pinched the
tip of the condom and rolled the transparent sleeve down over his shaft,
stroking its sides with his own fingers. The sight of the latex hugging his cock
emphasized its thickness and the straight-as-an-arrow length of it. It was easy
to imagine her pussy sheathing it and shrinking to embrace it just as tightly.
When he approached her she rose, settling into a kneeling
position on top of the comforter.
He lowered himself onto the bed, reached for her and
embraced her, pulling her against his chest and letting her feel his wrapped
cock throb against her hip as he planted a sensual kiss against her lips,
biting the lower one lightly before he released her.
She swallowed a sudden knot that had formed in her throat,
steeling herself for the only request she could imagine she’d need to make, “I’d
like to be on top.”
Personally, I love it when authors bring out the condoms.
While the counter scenes are my favorite I think this gives us a little more of
a quick view into her sexual writing style within this book and a small sense for the
characters personalities too. And I
loved the, “I’d like to be on top.”
There’s just something about it that makes me smile. I lost track of the
# of naughty bits I had to choose from.
There’s a lot and all of them are slightly deliciously different. I didn’t have any of those, geez sex again
moments. All of them fit nicely into the
story of who they are and what’s happening.
Blurb
Ryan Moore forged his own path when he defied his wealthy
family’s expectations by joining the United States Marine Corps as an enlisted
man. After a period of service that’s cut short by an IED explosion, the lingering
physical and mental effects of war result in an isolated struggle to exist in
the civilian world. He throws himself into competitive MMA fighting – the one
thing he’s still able to excel at, even if every match is a risk he can’t
afford to take.
His first encounter with amateur female fighter Ally Rivera
ignites a spark of desire he hasn’t felt since before a bomb left its marks on
his life and his body, but his flirtation with her turns out to be anything but
harmless. She’s struggling to hold together a family ravaged by violence – a
feat that isn’t easy when her father has been imprisoned, leaving her
vulnerable to relatives who run a local gang. Can two unrelenting fighters
overcome challenges they couldn’t defeat alone, or do the wounds of war and
crime run too deep for even love to heal?
